Winning pieces will continue to hang the Wall Gallery at Greer City Hall through the end of April. All other entries can be picked up from the business office Tuesday April 2.
Entries should fit one of two themes: Where We've Been and Where We're Going. Where We've Been should be inspired by the diversity of the City of Greer and the Upstate as reflected in events, people, and places. Where We're Going should be inspired by or focused on the synergy being created by the community vision for the future of Greer. The definition of synergy is two or more forces coming together to create more energy than they would separately. So many individuals and organizations have helped capture the vision for this community and are moving it forward. Because Downtown Greer is the center of our community (CenterG) we are all moving forward with synergy.
Greer Cultural Arts Council (GCAC) - Although we’d like to push the acronym, it isn’t currently well-known or recognized - so we may need the full name somewhere in the logo.
Our mission is to enrich the Greater Greer Community by providing affordable arts opportunities through exposure, education, and outreach.
Growing our community through the arts.
Preferably modern colors, but no hard rules. Do what you think is best for your design. This will have to be printed in places, so too many colors might be tough.
Up to you. We do want people to know what we’re about, so an icon could help that – but not required.
Again, up to you. However, it may need to be used in both forms at different points – but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Welcome to the world of advertising – there is a timeline for entries. All submissions must be emailed to ArtsCouncil@CityofGreer.org by April 30, 2019 by 5:00 PM to be included in the contest.
If you have any questions, please email Ruth Witty, Chair of Marketing Committee, Greer Cultural Arts Council RuthWitty1@gmail.com, and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
We reserve the right to modify the art work as it becomes the sole property of GCAC.

The City of Greer Freedom Blast is a summer festival honoring our veterans and current US Armed Forces. Freedom Blast has become a great reason for our community to gather annually to pay our respects to our past and present Armed Service members.
This year, we want you to be involved in making this event even bigger and better. Use your talents to create one dynamic image to represent the City of Greer Freedom Blast in any 2D media you choose. The winning artwork will be used for promotional flyers, the festival t-shirt, and all multi-media materials. All eligible entries will be displayed in the Wall Gallery in City Hall during Freedom Blast.
Each entry must be inspired by or represent a patriotic theme (i.e. military appreciation, July 4th activities, Freedom Blast, etc.)
All 2D media acceptable, winner to be reproduced & printed by 4-color process.
The exhibition will not be judged in media or age categories. Works must not exceed 20 inches in any direction including the frame.
All original works must be received ready to hang with appropriate hardware in place.
The City of Greer Freedom Blast judges will serve as final authority on eligibility.
We recommend the artist include the following text within or around the image area:
By entering the contest, you certify that this is your original work and give permission for this work to be reproduced for purposes of publicizing Freedom blast 2019 in all media.
All works must be delivered to the City of Greer Business Offices (1st Floor 301 E. Poinsett St. Greer, SC 29651) on Wednesday, May 16, between 8:00am-5:00pm.
Judges will look for one dynamic image to represent the 11th Annual Freedom Blast for promotional flyers, the Freedom Blast t-shirt, and all multi-media.
Best in Show winner will receive a $300 Visa Gift Card, up to 8 Freedom Blast shirts, posters using the artwork to promote the event, and special guest privileges at Freedom Blast on June 29, 2019.
Other prizes to be determined and distributed for 2nd place, 3rd place, and multiple Merit Awards.
All winners will be on display in the City of Greer "Wall Galllery" through the end of July and should be priced to sell. The City of Greer reserves the first option to purchase the winning works of art.
There are no separate awards for children/student entries.
All artwork should be picked up between August 1-3 from the City of Greer Business Office between 8-5pm. Any artwork left after that date will become the property of the City of Greer unless other arrangements have been made.
