WHERE: Greer City Park – 301 E Poinsett Street

Greer's 2nd Annual Railfest at Greer City Park all about trains and rail safety! This 4 hour event is free to the public, offering rail safety presentations from Operation Livesaver, trackless train, model trains, and more. Our local rail police and museums will be available with interactive displays and everyone can enjoy videos about locamotive history and rail safety inside of City Hall. Children and adults can enter to receive prizes such as scenic train rides, model trains, and more!

 

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Putting the Arts Center Stage
in Greer

Please join us for “Putting the Arts Center Stage in Greer,” a community meeting for promoting the arts in Greer! Doug Young will be our guest speaker for this event and we will also have time for open discussion, networking between artist groups within the community, and refreshments. A short survey (link below) will assist us in our discussion about the Arts in Greer.

GUEST SPEAKER: DOUG YOUNG

 

Doug Young has lived in Greenville for nearly 30 years. He’s an artist who is best known for his sculpture of ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson at Fluor Field. He has been president of art communities including Art Crossing at Riverplace, The Village (also known as Pendleton Street Arts District), and The Taylors Art Group in the Taylors Mill. He has juried art for the Indie Craft Parade, The Makers Market, North Greenville University and the Congressional Art Show for Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. He is currently a member of the board of directors for Taylors Townsquare and the president of the Gallery Centre Association. Besides maintaining his studio and gallery, he is also an interpreter for the Deaf at Greenville Tech and the director of The PitchHitters Men’s Chorus.
