What's New at the GCAC

Improv workshop

Join us for evening of laughter and learning. Los Angeles based actress/comedian Heather Horton will be hosting an Imrpov workshop at the Cannon Centre 204 Cannon Street in Greer. The workshop costs $35 and is for ages 14 and older. The workshop will be held from 6:00-8:30pm.

WHY SHOULD IMPROV BE IN YOUR ACTOR’S TOOLBOX?

What do Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jason Sudeikis and Heather Horton have in common? They have all studied improv. In this workshop, Heather will discuss improv and its many forms and how to use that knowledge to take control of your career. From establishing the basics of good scene work to becoming a graduate of The Second City or iO, Heather's workshop can show you how to use improve to get ahead of the game in auditions, to stay sharp as an actor, or to just use in everyday life. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about what is currently happening in the industry in Los Angeles.

Items covered in Workshop;

· History of improv and how it’s branched out across the country.

· Why improv is relevant in the world today (even the corporate world).

· Examples of improv: Short Form and Long Form.

· Specific improve warm ups, short form games such as the ones seen on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and techniques used in long form improv.

· How improv is used in the audition room.

· Mock auditions using improv techniques.
